Honest Appliance Repair From the Person You Speak To

When your washer stops draining, or your dryer runs three cycles, and the clothes are still damp, you want someone who will show up, tell you the truth about what is wrong, and fix it. We repair washers, electric dryers, dishwashers, electric ranges, and refrigerators in Gardendale, Fultondale, Mount Olive, Trussville, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Cahaba Heights, Pelham, and across Greater Birmingham. Aaron Tucker started this company in 2022, after years in his father's appliance store and a stint running service calls for a national franchise, because he wanted the person who answered the phone to be the person who showed up at the door.

That is still how it works today. He takes your call, asks for your model number, and lets you know what he thinks the problem is before he leaves the office. Then he arrives in a marked vehicle, wearing a shirt with the company logo. Tracie Burns wrote in September: "It's a one-man operation, and you can tell he takes pride in the service that he provides." We lay down floor protection before moving anything, remove the old part, show it to you, and leave the room the way we found it. Our repairs carry a 90-day warranty on parts and labor.

Whatever has broken, you will always speak with the same friendly person who comes out to fix it. Call or text (205) 883-9703, or send a photo of the model plate, and we will tell you what we can before anyone drives anywhere.

Who You Are Hiring

Aaron grew up in the trade. His father ran Westwood Appliance, a family business that sold and repaired appliances for more than fifty years, and his grandfather had it before that. He started there as soon as he could drive, cleaning and painting machines that had already been refurbished, then worked his way up to selling, diagnosing, and repairing them. What his father drummed into him was less about appliances than about people: start at the bottom, do the work properly, and take care of the customer. "It was always about doing the right thing."

He later joined a national appliance franchise in Birmingham to learn the in-home service side: scheduling, pricing, the machines he had never seen in the shop. He came away certain of one thing: he wanted to stay small. In 2022, he went out on his own, taking every job he could find. He still runs the business the same way today, because growing into a big company was never the goal.

What Happens When You Call

✆
1
Step 1

You speak with the person who will fix it

Most calls are answered on the spot. If he is behind a refrigerator, he will send a text and call you back between jobs on the same working day. He will ask the appliance type, brand, the problem, and where you are, because those four answers tell him whether it is a job he can take. If it is not, he will gladly point you to someone who can help.

✉
2
Step 2

He asks for the model number before he leaves

Text a photo of the model plate, and he can often work out the fault in advance and pick up the part from the supplier in Birmingham on the way. That is the difference between a repair finished today and a repair finished on Thursday.

◷
3
Step 3

A two-hour arrival window, and a call when he is on the way

Instead of a whole morning or a vague "sometime Tuesday," you will have a two-hour window and a call or text, whichever you prefer, when he sets off. If a job before yours overruns into your window, you hear about it while it is still your window, not afterward.

≡
4
Step 4

Diagnosis first, then a price, then your decision

Floor protection goes down before the machine moves. He tests the parts that could be causing the problem rather than replacing the usual suspect, then explains what he found and gives you one all-in number covering parts, labor, tax, and the service call, with no line items to argue about later. Nothing happens until you say yes.

✔
5
Step 5

Fixed today where the part is on hand

Eight times out of ten, the repair is done the same visit. When a part has to be ordered, it lands in one to two days, and he is back within two or three days. You pay the $100 service call that day; the balance is due when the job is finished.

A real example

"I called Aaron and he was very responsive. He asked for model info and description of the issue. He was here the following afternoon and he was in and out in 30 minutes. Dryer was diagnosed, repaired and maintained. Price was very reasonable. We will definately call him again. Good, and honest appliance repair companies are hard to find."

Our services

What We Fix

We repair washers, electric dryers, dishwashers, electric ovens and ranges, refrigerators, and more. We take only one gas job: a gas range whose oven will not heat, which is usually the igniter.

◎ 01

Washer Repair

We repair top-load and front-load washers, with an agitator or an impeller. Whether yours won't drain, spin, lock, or fill, or is leaking from a valve or pump, washers are the work we do most.

Learn More→
♨ 02

Dryer Repair

We repair electric dryers that won't heat, tumble, or start, that give off a burning smell, or that take three cycles to dry a load. That includes heating elements, thermal fuses, belts, rollers, and idler pulleys.

Learn More→
▦ 03

Dishwasher Repair

We repair standard built-in dishwashers that hum but won't drain, aren't cleaning or filling, or are leaking somewhere you can't see. When there's a leak, we pull the machine out and find its source.

Learn More→
◔ 04

Oven, Range, and Stove Repair

We repair electric ovens and ranges, as well as gas ranges whose oven will not heat, which is usually the igniter. We replace bake and broil elements, igniters, and control boards, and we recalibrate ovens that run hot or cook unevenly.

Learn More→
❄ 05

Refrigerator Repair

We repair freestanding Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and GE refrigerators, as well as upright and chest freezers. We fix leaks, clogged defrost drains, and evaporator fans, including the common case where the freezer is fine but the fresh food side is not cooling.

Learn More→
↯ 06

Dryer Vent Cleaning

A clogged vent is the most common reason a working dryer stops drying. We clean vents that exit through an exterior wall from both ends with a powered rotary brush kit, which takes about ten to fifteen minutes.

Learn More→
☃ 07

Ice Maker and Water Dispenser Repair

Ice makers and water dispensers make up roughly a quarter of our refrigerator calls. We repair ice makers, water inlet valves, and leaking filter housings, and we track down water that tastes wrong on Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and GE models.

Learn More→
⊚ 08

Cooktop Repair

We repair standalone electric cooktops, including surface element switches and burnt-out elements. If the glass is cracked, we'll give you an honest answer: it can usually be replaced, but it is rarely worth the cost.

Learn More→
☲ 09

Range Hood Repair

We repair the fans, lights, and switches on over-the-range hoods.

Learn More→
♻ 10

Garbage Disposal Replacement

We replace a failed garbage disposal with a like-for-like unit.

Learn More→
⚙ 11

Appliance Maintenance

We clean refrigerator condenser coils, and we open dryers up to vacuum them out and clean and oil the roller shafts. If we find a fault while we are there, the visit fee comes off the repair.

Learn More→
⚒ 12

Appliance Installation

We install dishwashers and garbage disposals you have bought elsewhere, handle like-for-like swaps, and reconnect water lines, vents, and power after a remodel.

Why us

Why People Call Us Back

Same person

The person who answers the phone is the person at your door

When you call us, you always know exactly who is coming to your home.

Aaron takes your call, gives you the quote, repairs the appliance himself, and stands behind his work. The person who arrives at your door is always someone you have already spoken with. If you have called him before, he already knows your machine.

Published pricing

We publish the service call fee

It covers the trip and a complete diagnosis, and it comes off the repair when you go ahead. We believe you should know the cost before you invite us in.

The phone call costs nothing, and neither does a rough idea once he has the model number. The $100 starts when he is in your kitchen with a meter in his hand.

Straight answers

We tell you when a repair is not worth your money

Our rule is simple: when the repair approaches half the price of the replacement, and the machine already has ten years on it, we say so, even though it costs us the job.

The exception runs the other way, and it surprises people. Older machines were built better than what is on the showroom floor today. A well-made fifteen-year-old washer with a bad pump is often a smarter repair than a four-year-old machine with a failed control board.

Tom Kent, February 2026: told to buy new

"Professional, helpful. Explained the problem and his recommendations. He recommended new washer rather spend the money on excessive repair. Rare honesty these days. Thank you Aaron."

Proper diagnosis

Proper diagnosis instead of replacing the usual suspect

Replacing the part that most often fails for a given symptom might be quicker, but a good share of the time, it is not the real problem.

Instead, we test every component that could be causing it, check the wiring and connections, and only then recommend a part. We also run the machine before we leave. It takes a little longer on the first visit, but it means that when a second visit is needed, it is usually to install an ordered part rather than to fix a fault we missed.

Straight answers

If it is not a job we take, you hear it on the phone

When something falls outside what we do, we will tell you on the phone before you are charged anything, and we will happily give you the name of someone we trust. The same goes beyond appliances: if a dryer fault turns out to be the 240-volt supply rather than the machine, we will let you know and tell you which trade to call next.

Rod Peeks, October 2024: the job we could not take

"I called Aaron Tucker this morning with a dryer issue; and he showed up within 15 minutes of when he said he would; with the 30 minute ETA call like he said he would. he diagnosed our dryer issue in less than 10 minutes; and unfortunately, it was not something he could fix because it was an electrical problem with the 240 V supply That requires a licensed electrician. It was very comforting to know what the problem was and to know how I was to approach it. I won't hesitate for a moment to call this fine young man the next time I have an appliance issue in my home."

Fair price

Affordable, and not pretending to be the cheapest

Our $100 service call reflects the care we put into every visit. We use original manufacturer parts as a rule, because we would rather be fairly priced than the cheapest.

Albert Turner, November 2025: "Not cheap but priced fairly." That is the position, in a customer's words.

Laundry specialty

Washers and dryers are the specialty, not just the service list

Laundry is our highest-volume work by a wide margin: top-load and front-load washers, and electric dryers. It is also the work we enjoy most.

That shows up in the van. Dryer belts, elements, and drum rollers are carried as standard stock, which is why a laundry call is the one most likely to be finished on the first visit.

Before you hire anyone

What to Ask Any Appliance Repair Company Before You Let Them In

These are the questions we hear most often before a visit. They are worth asking any company you call, so we have shared our answers alongside them.

$
01

What is your service call or diagnostic fee, and does it come off the repair?

Our answer

Ours is $100, and yes. The $100 service call goes toward the repair if you go ahead within 30 days. After 30 days, a return visit is $50 to $100.

≡
02

Will I get the repair price before any work is done?

Our answer

Always. You will receive one all-in price covering parts, labor, tax, and the service call, and nothing starts until you agree to it.

✔
03

Do you warranty your repairs?

Our answer

Yes. Every repair we perform carries a 90-day warranty on parts and labor, and we list exactly what it covers on our FAQ page.

⚙
04

Are you experienced with my particular appliance?

Our answer

It is always worth asking which brands and appliances a company works on. Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, and LG make up most of our work, and if you are unsure about yours, just ask when you call.

◷
05

Will the technician arrive within a scheduled window?

Our answer

Yes. You will have a two-hour arrival window and a heads-up when he is on the way.

⌂
06

Who will be coming to my house?

Our answer

It will always be Aaron, arriving in a marked vehicle and wearing a company shirt.

Feel free to ask us any of these on the phone, and you will hear the same answers.

FAQ

Questions We Get Asked

What appliances do you repair?

Washers, electric dryers, dishwashers, electric ovens and ranges, standalone electric cooktops, range hoods, garbage disposal replacement, and refrigerators and freezers. We also repair gas ranges whose oven will not heat. If you are not sure whether we can help with yours, just ask, and we will give you a straight answer.

What does a service call cost?

$100. That covers the trip out and a complete diagnosis of the appliance, and it is applied to the total when you go ahead with the repair. We do not publish repair prices, because the honest answer depends on the machine and the part. You will receive one all-in price before any work starts.

How quickly can you come out?

One to two days as a rule, and often the next day. If you call before noon and it is urgent we will try for the same day. We would rather give you a real date than promise same-day and miss it.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are fully insured, and a certificate is available on request. On licensing, the honest answer is that Alabama does not license ordinary household appliance repair. The state's HVAC and refrigeration law specifically exempts household appliances. We hold a Jefferson County business license.

Do you work on Samsung and LG?

Washers and dryers, yes. Both are among our highest-volume brands. Parts for both brands take longer to source than Whirlpool or GE, which we will tell you before you commit.

How do I know if my dryer needs a repair or just a vent cleaning?

Ask yourself whether it is heating. If the drum is hot but clothes are still damp after a full cycle, it is almost always the vent, not the dryer. If there is no heat at all, it is usually the dryer: an element, a thermal fuse, or a thermostat. Either way it is the same visit, and we will check the vent while we have the machine open.

What does the warranty cover?

90 days on labor and on the replacement parts we installed, for the repair we performed. It does not cover misuse, neglect, power surges, poor maintenance, or outside causes such as a restricted dryer vent. Replacement control boards are excluded. It applies to the original repair, not to an unrelated fault that develops later.

Where do I find the model number?

On a washer it sits inside the lid or around the door frame; on a dryer, inside the door or on the back panel; on a dishwasher, on the edge of the door when it is open; on a refrigerator, inside on a side wall or behind the crisper drawers; on a range, behind the bottom drawer or along the frame under the door. A photo of the plate is all we need, and it is the fastest way to make sure the right part is on the van.

What if it breaks on a Friday night?

Text or leave a message. Calls and texts Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Saturday calls are usually answered; Sunday goes to voicemail. He does not normally run service calls on weekends, except occasionally to fit a part already ordered, so a Friday-night message is usually booked for early the next week. If a refrigerator has stopped cooling, say so in the message, and get the food into coolers in the meantime.

More of these, including how payment works, what a first-visit fix depends on, and whether a home warranty company can send us are on the FAQs.
